Our Story
Previously, as a research center within the School of Public Health at the University of California at Berkeley, we focused on developing relevant and comprehensive methodologies and instrumentation for evaluating stove performance. We are now focused on quantifying greenhouse gas emission reductions and on building business models for reinvesting carbon revenues to increase stove distribution and dissemination. Our multi-disciplinary team includes experts in environmental health, carbon finance project development, enterprise development in a developing country context, energy, energy efficiency, and health policy.
Impact Carbon brings together diverse project implementation, outreach, and research efforts to scale projects. For the past six years, we have worked with researchers and practitioners to bring clean-burning and efficient stoves and fuels to the millions of people suffering from indoor air pollution and energy poverty. We have created several pilot projects aimed at expanding the commercial markets for the best cooking and heating technologies throughout the world.
